Question from Cream: What are the roles of 作曲, 編曲, 作詞 and 監製?

Answer (to the best of my knowledge)
Written out to give some sort of credit to the original creators of the song as respect ^^ Also, some people like to know the information; e.g. an artist may have composed, arranged and written the lyrics to their own song.

作曲:___
zuo qu/jok cook
Composer - who composed the music

編曲:___
bian qu/peen cook
Arranger - who arranges the music into what hear in the song

作詞:___
zuo chi/jok chee
Lyricist - who writes the lyrics to the song

The following are used mainly for songs that also have a music video released:
監製:___
jian zhi/gaam jai
Producer - used where the filming and production of a music video is involved

導演:___
dao yan/do yeen
Director

Other notes
填詞:___
tian chi/teen chee
Lyricist - as above

When I just use 曲:___that person/people did both the composing and arranging of the music and 主唱/演唱 tells you who is singing the song.

Ghetto Justice 怒火街頭 - thoughts

Casting: Kevin Cheng, Myolie Wu, Sam Lee, Lam Chi Sin, Joyce Tang, Sharon Chan, Shek Sau, Eddie Kwan

Executive Producer: Tong Kei Ming  Scriptwriter: Lau Choi Wan   Chan Kam Ling

LAW LIK-AH (Kevin Cheng) used to fight for personal fame and gain in the law field. After setting up a Legal Advice Centre with his cousin GEORGE MIKE JR. (Lam Chi Sin) and his good friend TING KA-FU (Sam Lee) in Sham Shui Po, LIK-AH changes his mind and realizes that law is not a privilege of the rich. By helping the grassroots to fight against injustice with unconventional tactics, LIK-AH becomes the People’s Hero of Sham Shui Po. Also working as a barrister, WONG SZ-FU (Myolie Wu) used to admire LIK-AH for his invincible performance in the field but she starts to look down upon him for he has been reduced to a ghetto lawyer. However, after a few court cases with him, the two start to appreciate and fall in love with each other. Trying to become one the elite practitioners in town, SZ-FU seizes every chance to get close to the renowned barrister TSEUNG PAK-KEI (Shek Sau). PAK-KEI enjoys playing tricks with law and SZ-FU is accidentally embroiled in a lawsuit because of him. In order to save SZ-FU, LIK-AH tries to challenge the law…

thoughts so far;

Yay, another law series ^o^ I’m quite the fan of the TVB dramas to do with law and police :D It’s nice of them to have smaller cases now instead of focusing on just the really big ones! After watching 6 episodes of this so far, I’ve realised that the summary (from tvb english site) doesn’t mention in detail any of Lik-Ah’s friends which are getting the majority of the screen-time atm. Interested to see what happens in episode 7 where (as the preview suggests) part of Lik-Ah’s ugly past is revealed ;D

Have Kevin and Myolie ever been paired up together in a drama before? I don’t recall seeing them together? Well, I think they’re going to be pretty interesting from the photos of the forced (?) kiss in the theme video XD

The first week ratings for this was 28, but really, i think this deserves more? I mean, it’s obviously not the best of the best in terms of tvb’s series but it’s better than a 28 :/  Hoping the ratings pass 30 for this week ;P

P.s. I like Kevin wearing his dodgy clothing better than his lawyer suit :D He looks more handsome that way and I don’t even know why hahaa XD

Sammul Chan leaving TVB

Again, my thoughts.

Seriously, I don’t know what all the fuss atm is about anyway, he wants to go and find more jobs in Mainland China, good for him because TVB never gave him much of a chance anyway. He hasn’t been with them for a while officially anyway right? :S

Maybe part of this was because reporters cut off the parts where he thanked TVB and only showed the bad parts about what he was saying (which tbh, was only painful truth)…

In a way, I don’t like weibo and twitter because of the small amount of privacy it offers famous people who use it. They can’t say a single normal thing without it being analysed like it’s out of an English study text or novel or something. >_<

Oh yeah, and TVB decides to rub this thing in more about the actors leaving by making a sequel to Triumph in the Skies (as reported by Apple News – i hate those reporters there ¬¬ but news is news :/)… and then they say something like “oh yeah, we’re looking to use all the original actors" err, yeah right, half of them have left.

Anyway, I support Sammul’s decision to have his freedom :)

I love Schemes of Beauty btw, but I can’t quite motivate myself to finish watching the last 7 episodes because the king (sammul’s character) has just died D: and I don’t particularly enjoy the storyline much anymore.. at least the first evil characters were ‘nice’ :S

Not to mention, Sammul was the only reason I wanted to watch Relic of an Emissary anyway~~ Ma Sam Bo FTW :D

more HOG in MR!!

ABL has told me that moses was singing 'speechless' to astrid in episode 6.

Also

in episode 9...at the end. the family are together(well most of them) and they sing their 'song' the same one as the one in HOG!!! but they do different things...

unless that is a VERY popular song in HK i dont think that every family will be singing it?!?!
will they??

HOG is mention in MR!!! :O

haha. in episode 6. when 'sa yi' is asking them all to dinner, during the phone call to 'hor ma' she asked her to MAKE SURE she went to 'tong gei bao yu' if you didnt understood my pinyin...then it was basically the name of the abalone shop that they owned in HOG!!

i thought the producer said that HOG wasnt anything to do with MR???

--so how come i hear parts of heart mentioned in moonlight?!?!?!
im asking you TVB, why???

playboy cops - ending...

*DO NOT READ FURTHER UNLESS YOU KNOW THAT THERE ARE SPOILERS AND THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO READ THEM.

arrrrrggghhhhhh!!!!!!! =[ sorry!.

but the ending was so sad!!! =( i can't believe michael died!!! =[[ i loved the fact that he loved lisa every bit of his life since he knew he, to his death - so touching! i cried the whole way through the ending ;*[ and it was so sad when they showed how michaels mother and father were waiting for him to have dinner with them...but they didnt know that the conversation that they had earlier with him was his last =[[ argh i hate movies like this...but in the same way as i love them. i wouldnt love it as much it the ending wasnt so spectacular, and extra sad. but i hate it coz michael died =[[

lol (dont ask why i start evry sentence with it =P). at the start of the movie, i thought lincoln was a cheeky person =P especially when he had the fight with michael...but that was probably because i saw michael first, coz he was at the very beginning (catching a robber =D). And also, lincoln always seemed to have a weird grin on him in the first half of the movie. It was very weird (is all im going to say). But i thought his character is a good kind, even though he doesnt neccessarily show it using his money. He gives things thought and attention, unlike michael who is easily angered, and flings out his money until his dad is bankrupt.

And to the david guy... first of all, i thought he was hillarious!! LOL. all that with his smile and how he didnt act like he cared about what people said to him (though he did, which showed later). And then near the end...where he gets shot. it was such a surprise! i mean they shot him straight away...but i wasnt suspicious or anything. Then i finally cracked it....it was when michael, and lincoln went to get linda when i knew it was him. It was so mean of him to kill his fellow helpers just because one of them stood up to lisa, and lincoln, and michael...he killed ALL of them!!! didnt know he was like that. i was so shocked...and then before that he cut lisa's finger off =O it looked so scary...no...HE looked So SCary!!! I hated the bit when he made lincoln and michael beg for money, just because they were rich and he was poor, and how he made them bark and everything. It was totally (un)believable!!!...and all the other "rich" old men who were on the ship...he chopped one's hand off! that was so scary!! and he was just laughing all the time!!! i dont think ive seen anyone as EVIL as him in my life!!!

Now...lisa...i dont think linda had a very big part as lisa...but it was still good to see though!! she was goos as a supporting cast, and her crying was good as well -- but i dont think that this was her best performance...i think shes done better. now on to lisa - the character. i liked her overall, and i understood why she didnt like michael, and how she loved lincoln...but what i dont get is why she went out with michael in the first place...when the only person in her heart was lincoln???maybe she felt sorry for him??i dont think she showed her character much in the movie. i felt the 'bit' at the end was a bit too sudden for me - even though getting lincoln and lisa married was michaels idea...but it felt weird how she had a baby already...and how did she/they know that the baby was gonna be a boy...coulnt it be a girl??? lol. but i think the bit how they were gonna name the baby michael was just toughing, and sweet =] it was one of the good things =]

Overall...the movie was good =]] especially since im not a fan of movie...but i watched it for linda. except that i didnt just like her acting...it was the whole cats that was AMaZIng!!! =D I would recommend it to anyone who likes linda =]

oh yh...i also noticed that michelle yim was a guest star in it as michaels step mother =O and ella koon was apparently the police lady at the start, coz i saw her name in the credits...i didnt pay much attention at the start as homework was needed to be done...i was listening to it though.

rating for me is hmmm...maybe a 8 and 1/2 out of 10....or even 9...but i didnt think it was extra special...it wasnt as good as id expected...but then again...i dont know what id expected??

How did you find it???

512 charity event

Sunday June 1, 2008 Hong Kong

Bringing together over 500 acts from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and SE Asia, the Artistes 512 Fundraising Campaign <演藝界512關愛行動> concert took place this afternoon at the West Kowloon Reclamation Site to raise money for the Sichuan Earthquake Disaster Relief Fund.

The show started at 2:28 pm and went on until 10:00 pm, providing non-stop entertainment to members of the public, who were charged a minimum $20 donation to enter. 100 telephone lines were also set up for people to ring in and pledge donations throughout the duration the show, which was also televised on both TVB and ATV.

A one-minute silence marked the start of the show to remember the people who had died when the earthquake, measuring 7.8 on the Richter Scale, struck a massive area across Sichuan at 2:28 pm on 12 May 2008.

The first group of performers then joined on the stage to sing the campaign's theme song "Promise" <承諾> to launch the seven-hour marathon concert.

Stephen Chow (周星馳) had dropped in before rushing off to Japan, so he was the first to give his address on the stage. He said that he felt very strongly the feelings of sadness that followed the disaster, but now that this has passed, the efforts now rest on rebuilding, which requires a lot of resources and effort. He encouraged people from throughout the whole world to offer a helping hand and help fellow Chinese people to find their homes and lives again and for children to be able to go back to school and find their smiles once more.

Jackie Chan (成龍) also made a quick appearance to speak about how moved he was to see that 1.3 billion Chinese people are joining together to support the cause.

After visiting the affected areas and seeing the relief efforts first hand, Andy Lau (劉德華) shared his memories of how people were desperate to return to their homes, but were unaware of the dangers that were still apparent. He said that seeing the relief workers yelling at these people to go back showed the genuine concern they had for the victims.

Andy's travelling companion Sammi Cheng (鄭秀文) also shared her experiences, but expressed her surprise at how positive the victims seemed to be. She recalled how some of the refugees were still eager to get autographs and take photographs with the artistes when they arrived. Sammi also spoke about how she was presented with some photographic records of the earthquake when she arrived and when she saw pictures of dead children still grasping their pens, it made her cry immediately. She added that when an injured girl with a bandaged leg came over and told her not to cry, she realised how strong these people really were.

Leon Lai (黎明) said that although natural disasters are unavoidable, it is extremely encouraging to see how humankind unites after such tragedies.

Joyce Cheng (鄭欣宜) spoke on stage about how a young mother in Sichuan had sheltered her baby from the falling rubble with her own body and remarked on how noble this self-sacrifice was. She said that she had just experienced her first Mothers Day without her own mother, but she knows that wherever her mother is, she will still be supporting her. She felt that in the same way, this young mother will still be supporting her child because the love of motherhood is great until the end. She hopes that the orphans will remember this and grow up as happy people.

Former beauty queens also appeared to show their support as Michelle Reis (李嘉欣) expressed her hope for people to continue to support the fundraising efforts to help and support the victims and Anita Yuen (袁詠儀) offered her time to help answer the phones. Anita said that she was in Japan on holiday at the time of the earthquake and when she heard the news, she could not stop crying. She then donated all her shopping to the relief efforts and she hoped that the charity that has been sparked off will not just be a temporary reaction.

Taiwanese representative Tsai Chin (蔡琴) spoke of her admiration for the unity of the Hong Kong showbiz industry, especially the efforts of Jackie, Andy and their colleagues for bringing everyone together for events like this concert. She remarked that seeing such great work in Hong Kong, the Taiwanese showbiz community had to react with their complete support.

Diana Pang (彭丹) made a special journey back to Hong Kong to appear at the show. She spoke about how she had supported a specialist bone injury hospital in Sichuan and how this hospital had been offering free treatment to victims of the emergency. She also revealed that she has adopted an orphan who shared the same Chinese name as her.

The stars reacted to the recent news about Sharon Stone's earlier comment suggesting that the quake was karma against the Chinese people and then her subsequent apology for her inappropriate words. Diana said that she no longer looked upon the Hollywood star as an idol.

HKPAG president Alan Tam (譚詠麟) said that he felt that what Sharon Stone did was very political and she is now looking for an exit space from what was a very foolish move at a sensitive time, but he did not want to say too much about her. Asked if he would like to visit the affected regions again, he said that he was quite a sensitive soul, so he did not want to see the upsetting scenes.

Among the other celebrities who performed and spoke on stage were Eric Tsang (曾志偉), Richie Ren (任賢齊), Tony Leung (梁朝偉), Carina Lau (劉嘉玲), Jacky Cheung (張學友), Kelly Chen (陳慧琳), Denise Ho (何韻詩), Guoli Zhang (張國立), Daoming Chen (陳道明), Xiaoguang Feng (馮小剛), A-Mei Chang (張惠妹), Julie Su (蘇芮), Chiling Lin (林志玲), Harlem Yu (庾澄慶), Barbie Hsu (徐熙媛), Dee Hsu (徐熙娣) and Lollipop (棒棒堂).

After over seven hours of music and entertainment, the show was drawn to a close by Sam Hui (許冠傑), Miriam Yeung (楊千嬅), Joey Yung (容祖兒), Leo Ku (古巨基) and the final group of performers.

The total of donations pledged during the marathon show emerged as over HK$31 million, with the telephone calls still continuing into the night after the show had finished.
